Today has been truly a delight! I had such a lovely time meeting other local artists this evening at the Mayflower Arts Center in Troy, Ohio...such wonderful and inspiring talent! I was honored with being awarded second place for my oil painting, Streambed, Charleston Falls, at the center's juried exhibition ~ "An Idyllic Journey". The owner, Lisa Bauer is a treasure for the Troy community in her vision for this lovely, historic theater that is now a visual and performing arts center. I encourage you to visit ~ view the art, see a performance, take a class! Their website is ~ http://www.mayflowerartscenter.com/index.html
Summer is winding down, however it seems that things are winding up at the same time. Similar to the bees, butterflies and the zippity.zip hummingbird that shared the path I hiked at the Audubon today, I too am busy.busy photographing, painting, creating. Labor Day weekend lies ahead...summer's usual last three-day weekend hoorah before fall steps in. This year should be a really special GRAND HooRAH! though as many, myself included, await the arrival of Mumford and Sons to Troy, Ohio for the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover! ..a very exciting time it will be! http://www.gentlemenoftheroad.com/troy/
Just like the various wildflowers in the field being visited by our winged friends, I have been touching on several different art pieces using pastels, watercolors, oils and acrylics. I am excited about an oil skyscape that awaits another coat of varnish, then it shall be ready to unveil at The Art Vault Gallery in time for the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover! This work, as well as two other pieces will be at The Art Vault Gallery and three other works, including Streambed, Charleston Falls, will be at the Mayflower Arts Center during the Mumford and Sons Stopover. Skyscapes seem to be of interest to me of late so you can expect to see more in that direction. Wishing you a wonderful end of summer and enjoy what remains of summers sweet nectar.
